New owners Kerryn and Don Garita have been running a home delivery service sourcing fresh fruit and vegetables through Eaglemont Fruit Supply for the past three years. Knowing former owner Rocky well, they were attracted to Eaglemont‘s lovely Village atmosphere which they believe is conducive to building their quality fresh produce store. Kerryn, who holds an MBA, swapped the corporate world as a Marketing Manager at a Pharmaceutical company to set up an online home delivery service following the birth of their son Xavier seven years ago. Don set up his wholesale business in 1987 out of the Footscray Fruit and Vegetable Market and will continue to ensure the shop is well stocked with quality produce. With quality fruit and vegetables in his blood Don grew up on the market garden situated on the banks of the Merri Creek Coburg, which is now CERES run (Centre for Education & Research in Environmental Strategies). With its rich volcanic soil it has been in cultivation for over 150 years, Don’s father continued to work there into his mid 70’s.
It was a day of sunshine and happiness at this year’s Spring Festival. Crowds gathered from near and far with revellers overheard calling friends and family from not just this suburb but from all over Melbourne to come and join!
