Rebecca Martin, local resident and owner of the new Eagle Nest Café has over 20 years experience in the service sector as a former flight attendant. Rebecca revelled in the interaction with patrons and meeting new people in her former career and is delighted to continue at her Café and nothing is too much trouble for her! What started as a working office for Joy Jewellery two years ago has adapted to the ever changing retail market and diversified into Eagle Nest Café.

A fresh start for fruit shop

New owners Kerryn and Don Garita have been running a home delivery service sourcing fresh fruit and vegetables through Eaglemont Fruit Supply for the past three years. Knowing former owner Rocky well, they were attracted to Eaglemont‘s lovely Village atmosphere which they believe is conducive to building their quality fresh produce store. Kerryn, who holds an MBA, swapped the corporate world as a Marketing Manager at a Pharmaceutical company to set up an online home delivery service following the birth of their son Xavier seven years ago. Don set up his wholesale business in 1987 out of the Footscray Fruit and Vegetable Market and will continue to ensure the shop is well stocked with quality produce. With quality fruit and vegetables in his blood Don grew up on the market garden situated on the banks of the Merri Creek Coburg, which is now CERES run (Centre for Education & Research in Environmental Strategies). With its rich volcanic soil it has been in cultivation for over 150 years, Don’s father continued to work there into his mid 70’s.
